The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione is everything a homologation special should be: a stone’s throw from its WRC sibling, capable of blinding performance, limited in production and deeply charismatic with boxed arches, unique gauges and badges, Recaro buckets and wild acceleration.
The HF AWD, turbocharged Delta Integrale dominated the international rally scene throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, earning a remarkable 46 victories, 6 consecutive constructor’s championships and 4 drivers’ crowns with Juha Kankkunen and Miki Biasion, becoming the most successful rally car of all-time. A record that stands still to this day.
To celebrate this defining moment for the company, in 1993, Lancia launched the final generation of Delta Integrale, the Evoluzione II. The penultimate road-going Delta, its immediate identifiers are the monster bonnet bulge that houses a perfected 215hp 2.0L 16 Valve turbocharged inline-4 that renders this the fastest road-going Delta ever made, larger 16-inch alloys by Speedline, a Red crackle finish cam cover, front strut brace, new glass, air-conditioning, and famed high-backed Recaro bucket seats trimmed in Alcantara.
Underneath, the Evolution II featured new lightweight, heavy-duty suspension, bigger brakes with ABS and other FIA homologated go faster bits like a radiator for the power-steering pump.
Inside, updates included more refined interior styling, the Recaro bucket seats received a new quilted/perforated trim pattern with embossed “HF” for the head rests and new Momo Corse steering wheel.
Available here is an exceptional and original, low kilometre 1993 Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione II (EVO 2) in the hero colour combination of Monza Red over Beige Recaro interior that has travelled just 45,335 original Kilometres.
Only ever built in Left-Hand-Drive and not sold in Australia and corresponding with its Certificate of Origin, this EVO 2 was delivered new through the official Lancia importer of Japan, January of 1994 optioned with the Sony XR-CDX radio with CD stacker, where it remained with just one owner until being personally imported to Australia in 2020.
Japanese Integrales are considered desirable, they tend to be free of corrosion and very well maintained, not least of all because salt is not used on their roads during winters unlike their European counterparts.
Accompanied by its complete and original book pack, still kept in the original selling dealer wallet, this EVO 2 was incredibly well maintained whilst in Japan, well recorded in the stamped service leaflets.
Following its arrival into Australia, this car has subsequently been maintained by classic Italian sportscar specialists based here in Sydney. In 2021, the car received brand new KW-V3 Delta Integrale suspension fitted by East Coast Suspension and tuned by supercar specialists Heasmans Steering. The original suspension also accompanies the car and in November of 2023, the car was also subject to a major cam-belt service with new water pump installed as well.
Today, this EVO 2 presents in excellent order everywhere with a crispness to the detail lacking in other Integrales. The selling dealer and factory “WRC Champion” decals are still fitted to the rear windscreen and all factory homologated details are accounted for from the Speedline alloys, the tri-angle attack rear spoiler, Carello fog-lights and HF enamel badges to the iconic perforated Alcantara Recaro bucket seats, Yellow Veglia instruments, carbon fibre gear surround and Momo Corse steering wheel- all in excellent and original condition. Even the carpets and door cards are still wrapped in the factory’s pre-delivery plastics.
On the road, this EVO 2 feels fast. There’s a solid, fresh feel right from when you first sit inside and on start-up, the limited-edition muffler crackles into life. Gear changes feel precise, steering is perfectly direct and you can sense this car is able to tackle a lot more than us mere mortals will ever throw at it. This example is exactly what you hope to find.
Evo Magazine recently said “Though more than capable of blinding speed across challenging roads and in dire conditions, the Integrale’s other attributes are what have helped it endure – and remain adored”.
This sentiment is why values and demand continue to remain strong for the best examples of the Integrale. We’re also now seeing resto-mod’s emerge of the Integrale in all forms of futuristic build composition which, is generally a good sign for future values of hard to find original cars, and it doesn’t get much better than this incredibly well-kept and original car available here.
