“The new Turbo is probably the fastest road car to be found this side of a McLaren F1 or a Bugatti EB110.”– Road & Track, June 1995.

Fast, mechanical, and irreproducible, the Type 993 Turbo is still regarded the most complete and desirable modern classic Porsche ever made.

Engineered as the successor to the legendary Type 959, the 993 Turbo’s technical recipe was the first 911 to feature low-inertia twin turbocharging, a 6-speed manual, and All-Wheel-Drive, and the last to be hand-made and include the legendary Hans Mezger 3.6L air cooled engine.

With 408 horsepower on tap and a massive 398 foot-pounds of torque, the 993 Turbo devours 0-100km/h in just 4.3 seconds with an engine snarl that stands the hairs at the back of your neck on end.

Its close ratio 6-speed manual is an un-sung hero and its most impressive visual queue comes from its very wide rear-end beneath a wrap-around tea tray spoiler that just melts over the car without a straight line in sight. Visually and mechanically, the 993 Turbo ruled a generation of analogue Supercars and is still a benchmark performance car today.

One of only 37 cars built for the Australian market for 1996, the superb and original Type 993 911 Turbo offered here for the first time in 20 years was one of the first to arrive Down Under.

Delivered new 31 January, 1996 by Scuderia Veloce Motors (Porsche Centre Willoughby) and ordered in the iconic, and in our opinion finest Type 993 colour combination, the ‘Kills Bugs Fast’ factory launch colour Arena Red Metallic (H8) over two-tone Cashmere and Black (YA) leather trim, this hard-to-find original car presents in exceptional order throughout.

In preparation for sale, the car has just undergone a thorough inspection and check over with classic Porsche specialist Don Munro, the same Technician that has maintained the car since 2006 at his respected T&D and DHM Automotive workshops.

Regular entries in the service booklet demonstrate disciplined attention by Porsche and then subsequently Porsche specialists for many years. The last service was a major service carried out at 139,000 Kilometres and the service book also shows an engine rebuild and new clutch at 124,000 Kilometres in 2009 after the car had traversed from Victoria in 1998 through 2004, and then settling in Brisbane for the next 20 years of long-term careful ownership.

On the road, performance is also absolutely on point. Some motoring icons struggle to live up to their hype, not so with the 993 Turbo. When cherished and as well maintained as this one, these cars retain their ludicrous levels of acceleration, bolt action feel gear changes, and its build quality feels as though it was carved from a single piece of granite. The confidence its roadholding inspires is a testament to how well this particular car has been cared for.

What would have to be the most desirable Porsche Type 993 Turbo specification to own, the opportunity to secure such a car that is generally so tightly held hardly ever becomes available.

A very early production model, presented in the factories Launch colour, ready to drive and enjoy, diligently maintained by one of Australia’s best known Porsche specialists and complemented by long-term ownership history (a tell-tale sign of a great car), we’re very proud to bring this stellar Type 993 Turbo to market.
