"The GT3 is not a car you simply sit back and relax in. It is a sensory overload. You have to drive it... It is, quite simply, one of the most hypnotic, pure performance tools ever created by Weissach."— EVO Magazine, 2004

In the landscape of modern Porsche performance cars, few carry a reverence like the Type 996 911 GT3.

Unlike standard Type 996 Carrera engines with wet-sump architecture and IMS bearings,

the homologation special, Mezger dry sump GT3 unit traces its lineage directly to the GT1 Le Mans victor and 962 endurance racers. Even the controversial headlamp design was shared with the GT1 Evo, a memento of the model's competition-first philosophy.

The enhanced Type 996.2 GT3 arrived in 2003. Lighter and faster, it was the first car fully developed by Andreas Preuninger, now the godfather of all things GT-related at Weissach.

Featuring larger “Big Red” Brembo brakes, wider and lighter Fuchs and comprehensively revised suspension, the second-generation GT3 benefited from meaningful gains in power and torque too. Variocam broadened the engine’s torque curve and increased the redline, and Porsche claim a 21hp increase over the first generation. Real world feel is more like a noticeable 40-50hp uplift.

    This 911 GT3 Clubsport

There are just 682 Type 996 GT3 RS’s in the world, and every single one of them left Weissach in Carrara White.

This 1-of-1, however, is the only known GT3 Clubsport built to RS specification, finished in Speed Yellow (X4X4), Porsches launch colour for the period.

After Porsche AG refused a special request from the head of the Porsche Club to build a GT3 RS in Paint To Sample Speed Yellow, Porsche Centre Sydney’s management team answered by commissioning and constructing this unique special-order CS themselves, recognising their clients long-term loyalty to the brand and motorsport.

Taking a factory-fresh, Speed Yellow 996.2 GT3 M003 Clubsport, 1 of only 35 ever delivered new to Australia, straight off the transporter and into their workshop, Porsche Sydney re-engineered the car directly into RS-specification prior to delivery with a number of Zantrag or “Additional Requests” factory options, including:

    - RS carbon fibre spoiler

    - RS front bar with GT mesh grille

    - Lightweight RS carbon mirrors

    - RS Lexan glass rear windscreen

    - RS Alcantara steering wheel with contrast Red stitch

    - RS Alcantara shifter mechanism with contrast Red stitch

    - RS Black Nomex Recaro Clubsport seats

    - RS full roll-cage in Black

    - Bespoke “GT3 CS” side script decal in RS specification

Built February, 2004 and delivered post-works by Porsche Sydney two months later in RS specification, the result is an authentic 1-of-1 creation.

What has become a bespoke piece of Australian Porsche history that we’ve traced in-depth, and only ever trading hands behind closed doors among the country’s most discerning enthusiasts, we’re now incredibly proud to offer this Type 996 GT3 CS to market for the first time in 10 years.

In over two decades since leaving Porsche Sydney, this car has travelled just 51,000 kilometres, routinely serviced by a mix of Porsche factory dealers and respected marque specialists across Australia. The last works completed by Auto Coupe, Melbourne in May, 2025 with the only outstanding items noted being: Fuel cap tether strap broken and Radio buttons sticky which, has now been rectified.

Driven sparingly but also used as intended, today, the car presents in what can only be described as well-preserved overall condition. Still retaining all of its RS options, the Speed Yellow paint holds its bold allure, while the Black Nomex trimmed Recaro buckets, Alcantara steering wheel and shifter look barely worn, and interior surfaces have their increasingly harder-to-find factory matte finish.

There is only a handful of small cosmetic slights. These include the smattering of tiny stone chips to the leading edges of the side skirts and rear wheel arches and from a driving perspective, the car exhibits all the credentials of the GT3 CS about which automotive journalists waxed lyrical in period.

Accompanied by its complete original book set, both keys, generous receipt file, and factory build information, this is a turnkey car with nothing to spend.

For many years, the Type 996 generation has sat in the shadow of its predecessors and successors. That time has since passed.

Today, collectors and drivers are recognising the Type 996 GT3 for what it truly is: the last hardcore, analogue 911 developed by its manufacturers during its most dominant racing era. As a result, the finest, and most unique examples now lead a well overdue global resurgence in demand and values.

Cars like this are exceptionally difficult to find. Australian delivered, 1-of-1 specification, low Kilometres, well-preserved, and complete in every respect, it represents exactly the sort of GT3 that discerning collectors seek out.

An unrepeatable opportunity to acquire a bespoke chapter of Porsche's Australian history.
