The definitive air-cooled 911, this hallowed RS featured lightweight pistons, dual oil coolers, a Varioram intake system, remapped ECU, thin-gauge steel body panels, thinner glass, and an aluminium front bonnet all pulled from Porsche motorsport program and planted straight into the hands of a few lucky drivers.

The heir to this line of Porsche’s most Frankenstein-like creations, the GT4 RS, is one of those rare odes to an obsessive pursuit of finding ultimate driving enjoyment. 

A naturally aspirated 9,000-rpm, screaming 4.0L flat-six from the 911 GT3 transplanted into Porsche’s most balanced chassis (and right behind your ears), weight-saving measures straight from Porsche’s Weissach playbook that create a power-to-weight ratio bordering on the absurd using carbon fibre front wings and bonnet, thinner glass, a titanium roll-cage, fabric door pulls, thinner carpets and reduced sound insulation, all paired with Areo lifted from Porsches contemporary GT series race cars including that beautiful swan-neck rear wing and carbon fibre NACA ducts, this magnum opus is engineered to simply go fast and raise the hairs on your neck whilst doing it.

Like most Rennsports, getting an allocation for the GT4 RS wasn’t just difficult; it was a high-stakes arm wrestle among the brand’s most loyal customers. The wait list was long, but for those fortunate enough to secure one, the reward was immense.
